I didn’t realize it, but, I’ve become a person that it’s cool to contact after years of silence. And, I’m truly happy about it. I’ve met a lot of people in my life thus far. And, it’s nice to know that no matter the relationship I’ve had with someone, they feel comfortable contacting me again. In the past 6 months, this has happened to me quite a bit. And, I wonder, “What did I do then, that made them want to contact me now?” And, the answer is: I always give it my best. It’s true, I’m no good at [...]
Micro-mangers, who mean well
I love my mom… I do. She’s grown a lot from being the controlling, micro-managing, emotional–blackmailing, Mommy I grew up with. I know, it doesn’t sound like the nicest things to say about your mom, but, I think all mommies are versed in these shadier tactics of parenting. But, alas, I lived through it–which is why I haven’t killed the nice lady training me in my new job. In fact, I love her, because she reminds me of my mom. Her suggestions are really orders, no one can do anything better than her and she’s right even when she’s wrong! [...]
Costume Changes–yet, maintaing character
So, today, I started the most awesomest gig of my career–er…um…well, one of them. That would be my executive assistant career. It’s funny, I’ve said over and over again that I’m an artist, but, I’m also a business person. I believe in selling good ideas, products or services to people who need them. Do you know the difference between a producer and an executive assistant? Uh..not much. But, you’d have to be an abstract thinker like myself to get what I’m saying. As an executive assistant, I put together someone’s life on a daily basis. I look at all the [...]
Patience, Young Jedi*
I’ve thrown away my running shoes, heehee! My youth, was spent in a cross country race. The country: Monica. There was so many things, I was running from, thinking I was running to something. I come from a small town, a small-thinking family and the fear-of-God south! And, my younger years we’re spent meticulously creating a plan of escape. And, then carving a life for myself that would be lived upon college graduation. I got–all of it. From the degree from one of the most prestigious schools in the country, the the husband by age 23. I got, acting gigs, [...]
Why scary girls rock and strong women rule!!!
Indeed peoples it it time we recognized the need for balance in the universe. What do I mean by that? What I mean is yen/yang, light/dark, male/female. Does that mean male and female seperately? Nope, not at all. That means, males and female individually. Both, males and females have that goregous chromesome, the X. We share that and there’s a reason why. Because we are both male and female individually– in energy, in behavior, in thought and execution–whether we’re conscious of it or not. Whether we’re using it or not. And, I’m not saving mine for a rainy day! I am [...]
Multi-talented? –check
Missing It is the spot unfilled that ruins a view unseen. On the edge of brilliance, like shards of glass in sunlight –Twinkling rainbows drawing crimson water from the earth. It is a dull ache weeping in quiet. Muffled, suffocating behind each thought unacknowledged. Kept in blue darkness, pressed against glaciers gasping. Its reflection warped in perception Impatiently, it awaits a skip in wax for a new sound to be lived. Five lines, four spaces new music, new music. Life: unlived, unseen, unheard. Like smoke on the wind reciting stories of the embers that birthed it. Or, like a mountain [...]
Signs give directions- – you make the journey
So, I’ve been giving this a lot of thought lately, the purpose of signs. What is the function of the sign? It tells you how close or far you are from your destination, correct? So, let’s think about this–what is a sign? Better yet, who? Ah…esoteric? Why, yes as always! Recently, I gave a Pop Quiz to two people and one did very well, the other never gave his answers–I think I get a little too intense for him sometimes (eh…he can join the club, it has many members from what I understand). Anyhoo here it is… 1. What’s the difference [...]
Just because gifts…the best
Believe it or not, I am low maintenance–for other people, not for myself. So, I get excited and happy when other people do things for me. And, it’s not the huge stuff like buying me things, it’s the small stuff–like passing on information either on my behalf or to me. Saying, “Thanks,” “I love you.” Things like that. Although big stuff is highly appreciated too. I remember once, I was leaving a job and they gave me a surprise going away party…and I bursted in tears (yeah–I’m a real sap sometimes)! It was honestly one of the more touching gestures in [...]
If you’re the smartest kid in your circle–you need new friends!
So, like, I’m insane about my peeps! They know this, I’m shamelessly in love with all of them! So, how proud and amazed was I when I found out my friend Michael Doyle aka The Doyle, let me know he got accepted to law school! That fucking rocks! I’m not sure what kind of law yet, but, I know Doyle has very interesting views when it comes to government, politics and the like. So…I wouldn’t be suprised if it ended up being political of some sort. Who knows? Heather’s going to get her PhD, not sure what in, but, I [...]
Breathing…it’s sooo good for you!
So, I meditate… a lot. I told my mom that if prayer is talking then meditation is listening. And, if you believe that old addage about two ears, one mouth–then you know what’s up. Did I mention I’m a type A personality? Well, yeah, I am. And, I had to unlearn a lot of things in my life thus far. For example: time. I do not like tardiness, it looks good on no one. I cannot stand being late and work very hard to not be late, until I moved here…New York. New York has a way of putting time [...]
